Pennsylvania employee named Route Salesperson of the Year

November 15, 2012

New Orleans, LA – The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) today announced a Pennsylvania employee has won the prestigious Route Salesperson of the Year award for 2012.

Simon Cox, a Route Salesperson with the “The Water Guy” (Birdsboro, PA), was handed the title at IBWA’s Annual General Meeting this morning as part of the 2012 IBWA Annual Business Conference in New Orleans.

In making the announcement, IBWA Convention Chair Dan Kelly said Mr. Cox was an excellent employee and the epitome of what a route salesperson should be.

“Simon is a reliable, consistent performer who strives to make an impact not only on his route but also on his company. Simon works diligently to reach the goals set for him by management, but he also challenges himself,” Mr. Kelly said.

“The true value of Simon’s contributions can be seen in the great respect his fellow employees have for him. His colleagues often ask him for his opinions and advice because they know he has the experience, knowledge, and willingness to help. There is no greater compliment than to be held in the high esteem of your peers.”

“And that’s what makes him IBWA’s Route Salesperson of the Year.”

Since 1963, IBWA has been recognizing the efforts of the bottled water industry’s route salespeople. As ambassadors of the bottled water industry, route salespeople are on the front lines of customer service, and—through them—the bottled water industry has direct contact and connection with customers.

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) is the authoritative source of information about all types of bottled waters.  Founded in 1958, IBWA's membership includes U.S. and international bottlers, distributors and suppliers.  IBWA is committed to working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates bottled water as a packaged food product, and state governments to set stringent standards for safe, high quality bottled water products. In addition to FDA and state regulations, the Association requires member bottlers to adhere to the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice, which mandates additional standards and practices that in some cases are more stringent than federal and state regulations.  A key feature of the IBWA Bottled Water Code of Practice is an annual plant inspection by an independent, third party organization.  Consumers can contact IBWA at 1-800-WATER-11 or log onto IBWA's web site ( for more information about bottled water and a list of members' brands.  Media inquiries can be directed to IBWA Vice President of Communications Chris Hogan at 703-647-4609 or [email protected].
